BMX OR MTB?
The multi-talented Dawid Godziek doesn't have to choose. A BMX rider for a long time, the 28-year-old's tricks and combos now put him on the podium at both MTB and BMX events. Known as the Godziek Brothers, he shares this passion with his older brother Szymon. The two don't know how to compete - they push each other wherever they can.
When Szymon taught Dawid to ride a bike as a child, the brothers had no idea what the future held for them. Dawid was the first to attempt tricks on his bike. Initially focused on MTB biking, he soon made it to the MTB freestyle top in his home country of Poland. At the age of 16, Dawid switched to BMX freestyle and quickly became one of the best European BMX riders in the dirt and park disciplines thanks to his trick combos and barspins.
THE GODZIEK BROTHERS
From competitions to training, Dawid and Szymon motivate each other. They prefer to train in their self-built training park. The duo only disagrees when it comes to their perfectionism: While Dawid is still fine-tuning the optimal alignment of each ramp, Szymon already wants to try out the next trick. The ultimate goal of the two brothers? To stand on the podium together at an MTB event.
BACK TO THE ROOTS
Because Dawid, who was looking for the next challenge after his BMX successes, returned to his MTB roots and today clears in both disciplines.
After taking his first X-Games gold medal in the BMX Dirt category in Sidney in 2018, he went on to take third place at the Crankworx MTB event in Innsbruck in 2019. It wasn't until July 2022 that he won gold at the X-Games for the second time, this time in California. And those will certainly not be his last successes.
